Job summary

Boatswain’s Locker is seeking an Inside Sales Associate to expand our Engine Department. The ideal candidate has 1+ years in a mechanical role, can speak English and Spanish fluently, and is comfortable with computer invoicing and sales processes.

Responsibilities include assisting customers, taking orders, supporting the Outside Sales Team, and processing special orders. Training will be provided, and exposure to marine trade shows is expected.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience in a mechanical role.
• Bilingual English and Spanish (verbal and written).
• Knowledge of and experience with engine/generator sales and computer invoicing.
• Strong customer service and team collaboration.
• Ability to manage priorities and workflow.

Responsibilities

• Talk with customers about the exciting world of Boats.
• Assist call-in & walk-in customers with engine requests and take telephone/email orders.
• Provide support to the Outside Sales Team.
• Place special orders for items not in stock.
• Print invoices, collect payment, and track quotes/orders.
• Assist with the Parts Department as needed.
• Familiar products include Yanmar Marine Engines, Kohler Marine Generators, Hamilton Waterjets, COX Diesel Outboards, STEYR Marine Engines, Mercruiser Marine Engines, Velvet Drive Transmissions, ZF Transmissions.
• Training provided on products and procedures.
• Attend marine trade shows and maintain quality performance.

Our Engine Department needs to expand its team with the addition of one or more Inside Sales Associates with the following recruit:

JOB DESCRIPTION

Preferred Experience: 1+ years of experience in a mechanical role

Compensation: $24-26 per hour, commensurate with experience

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• To continue our tradition of excellence, under the direction of experienced and highly qualified team members, you will:
• Talking with customers about the exciting world of Boats!
• Helping call-in & walk-in customers with their engine requests, as well as taking telephone and email orders from customers.
• Provide support to the Outside Sales Team
• Placing special orders for customers through the Purchasing Department for items not in stock.
• Printing customer invoices, collecting payment, tracking quotes and orders
• Assisting occasionally with the Parts Department.
• Specific products would include Yanmar Marine Engines, Kohler Marine Generators, Hamilton Waterjets, COX Diesel Outboards, STEYR Marine Engines, Mercruiser Marine Engines, Velvet Drive Transmissions, ZF Transmissions, and a variety of related accessory products.
• Training is provided as needed on both products and procedures.
• Working and attending various marine trade shows.
• Maintain Quality performance by following organizational standards.
• Contribute to Team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed. Conduct himself or herself in alignment with the Company's Core Values of Integrity, Trust, Honesty, Teamwork, Accountability, and Quality

MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

The ideal candidate will have the following:

• Will train as needed. Must have some knowledge of and/or experience with similar business operations, i.e. sales of engines, generators, water jets, etc, and computer invoicing. Knowledge of and experience with marine engines and boat systems, in general, is not required but helpful.
• In addition, the following general skills and traits would be important for success: Technical aptitude, computer skills, positive attitude, being a team player, customer service skills, ability to work independently, precision and accuracy, problem-solving skills, effective and efficient work habits, ability to interact effectively with other departments, professional appearance, and behavior.
• Ability to manage priorities and workflow
• MUST be bilingual English and Spanish (verbal and written)
