Job summary

Nexans is seeking a Geographical Information System (GIS) Engineer to join the Marine Installation/Marine Engineering function in Oslo, Norway. You will manage GIS data, coordinate with survey and marine teams, and ensure accurate route information for subsea cable projects.

The role requires strong GIS data management skills, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams, and a focus on safety and quality in offshore operations. Oslo-based position with global project exposure.

Qualifications

• Experience with GIS tools and data management, ideally in marine, offshore, energy or infrastructure projects.
• Familiarity with survey data, route definition and marine operations is a strong advantage.
• Ability to work closely with engineers, operations teams and suppliers to translate project needs into robust GIS solutions.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of the GIS engineering scope in marine cable projects.
• Publish geographical data so it is available, accurate and up to date for other disciplines and external users.
• Support the survey engineer in data formats and specifications for additional surveys.
• Contribute to Safe Job Analyses, HAZOPs and risk assessments as required in the project.
• Provide reliable, accurate and accessible route and geographical data to support safe operations.
