Job summary

Nexans is seeking a Fiber Technician to join the Telecomm & Operations team at the Oslo HQ, with assignments at factory, onshore and offshore project locations. You will perform assembly, termination and testing of fibre optic cables, ensuring safe, high-quality execution in a global environment.

Ideal candidates have fibre optics experience, splicing and testing skills, and are fluent in Norwegian and English.

Qualifications

• Experience with fibre optic cables and systems.
• Practical experience with fibre splicing, termination, assembly, testing or measurements.
• Technical education or practical experience within fibre optics, telecom, electrical, mechanical or related field.
• Ability to understand and follow technical procedures, standards and documentation.
• Fluent in Norwegian and English, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Perform mechanical assembly, termination and integration work per Nexans procedures.
• Conduct fibre splicing, measurements and testing of cables and systems.
• Carry out FAT measurements during project execution with clients when required.
• Prepare, plan, pack and set up equipment before activities.
• Perform repairs at factory locations and during installation activities.
• Complete work documentation and report discrepancies via quality systems.
• Conduct safety and risk evaluations, including SJA when outside standards.
• Support internal and external training workshops.
• Contribute to development and improvement of procedures with the technical department.
• Collaborate with engineering, project teams, plants and clients to ensure quality execution.
• Contribute to R&D activities within fibre optics.
