Job summary

Gregory Poole Equipment Company seeks a marine mechanic in Beaufort, SC to perform moderate repairs and prep engines, generators, and transmissions for delivery. You will troubleshoot, inspect components, and ensure equipment is in peak condition.

Candidates should have at least three years of direct mechanical experience, familiarity with CAT literature, and the ability to work outdoors in varying weather, lift heavy parts, and follow safety procedures.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school education or GED.
• Requires three years direct work experience with a working knowledge of CAT literature systems and be proficient in at least one mechanical system (e.g. hydraulics, transmissions, electrical, etc.).
• Able to repeatedly stoop, kneel, bend and climb to access equipment and perform repairs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare marine engines for delivery to customers.
• Perform moderate repairs and maintenance checks on engines, generators and transmissions.
• Perform quality checks to ensure equipment is in peak presentable condition.
• Perform tests needed on the equipment prior to delivery to insure good operational condition.
• Complete proper incoming and outgoing documentation on equipment.
• Maintain safety precautions in the work area and wash/clean equipment as needed.
• Install transmission on engines and install parts on engines/generators; prep generators for delivery.
• Move engines using a forklift and assist with shop cleanup as needed.
