Job summary

ORION is seeking an experienced estimator to prepare estimates, takeoffs, and information gathering for project proposals in marine construction. You will work closely with project teams to ensure success in the bid proposal and award process.

The role requires five years of estimating experience in concrete construction or related fields, with a strong focus on procurement, scheduling, and cost control. Travel may be involved, and safety and environmental compliance are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years estimating experience in concrete construction or related industry.
• Familiarity with project estimating, procurement and cost control processes.
• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work as a key member of the Project Management Team to ensure success in bid estimation for marine construction.
• Investigate potential project sites with the job sponsor and prepare bid item listings for review.
• Perform quantity surveys to develop cost estimates and pricing bases.
• Solicit quotations from material suppliers and subcontractors; enter data into the project management system.
• Organize estimates, quotations, notes and plans for pre-bid review and lead discussions on bid items.
• Assist in review and analysis of bid documents for risk, cost, or capability issues.
• Prepare bid documents in worksheet form and establish construction labor sequencing.
• Supervise man-hours and unit production for project items.
• Maintain vendor files and coordinate quotes to meet submission deadlines.
• Support Safety and Environmental compliance initiatives and company policies.
