Job summary

ORION is seeking a cost estimator in Houston, TX to analyze project plans, specifications, soils reports, and related data to prepare bid proposals. This office-based role requires occasional site travel and long hours as needed to meet deadlines.

The candidate will collaborate with Estimating and Project Management teams to develop accurate estimates, perform cost analyses, and prepare complete proposals for concrete construction projects.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years field and/or estimating experience in concrete construction or equivalent work experience.
• BS Degree in Construction Management or related discipline; field experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Applies technical skills with minimal guidance and works independently.
• Collaborates with Estimating Manager and Project Management Team to support bid estimation for concrete construction.
• Reviews requests for estimates and prepares or reviews written proposals for completeness and accuracy.
• Develops and maintains cost data, including labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and overhead costs.
• Prepares weekly bid calendars and ensures timely completion of estimates.
• Develops estimating procedures and guidelines and ensures confidentiality of company information.
