Job summary

Orion Marine Construction is seeking an unskilled laborer to support marine project and yard locations. The role involves assisting Yard Foreman and other workers with basic physical tasks and maintenance.

You will help with general site cleanup and equipment handling to keep projects progressing on time and safely. You will handle lines, rig cables for lifting, load and unload materials, and participate in safety and environmental initiatives to ensure compliance with regulations and company

Qualifications

Prior marine construction or field experience is preferred but not required.
Must communicate effectively and work well with other employees.
Must submit to and complete any required safety or job training.
Able to work under close supervision and repeat short tasks per procedures.
Capable of meeting customer standards of accuracy.

Responsibilities

Assist Foremen to ensure on-going marine construction projects are completed successfully.
Handle mooring lines to vessels or rig towing lines.
Rig cables for lifting with cranes or anchor barges.
Load and unload materials from vessels, barges, docks and trucks.
Perform maintenance on equipment including de-rusting and painting.
Repair and paint buildings.
Move oxygen and acetylene bottles for welding projects.
Clean equipment, vessels, buildings and grounds.
Mix, pour and spread concrete, asphalt, gravel and other materials.
Join, wrap and seal sections of pipe.
Assist skilled craft workers as needed.
Participate in Safety and Environmental initiatives.
