Job summary

State Street is seeking an Assistant Vice President for Margin Operations within Wealth Custody & Clearing in the United States. You will own daily margin activities, shape the function's evolution, and coordinate with Risk, Compliance, Product, Technology, and the clearing firm to ensure robust, scalable processes.

The role requires strong Regulation T and brokerage margin knowledge, hands-on handling of margin calls, and experience managing risk-based escalations.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of relevant experience in margin, broker-dealer, or custody operations.
• Experience administering or overseeing margin calls and related controls.
• Series 7 and Series 57 preferred or willingness to obtain.
• Familiarity with Regulation SHO and short-selling operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and enhance the margin operating model translating regulatory and business requirements into procedures, controls, and reporting.
• Own and execute key operational activities supporting the margin lending program, including calls and extensions.
• Review margin reports and account activity for elevated exposure and escalation needs.
• Apply Regulation T, FINRA 4210, SEC requirements to evaluate activity, restrictions, and escalations.
• Coordinate timely resolution of calls, deficiencies, extensions, and other exceptions with clients, advisors, and risk teams.
• Monitor concentrated positions and administrate house margin requirements as needed.
• Support risk data delivery to Risk for stress-testing and exposure analysis.
• Serve as operational liaison with Apex for margin-related activities and reporting.
• Maintain margin controls, reconciliations, and audit-ready documentation.
• Establish cost‑effective reporting and escalation thresholds for risk oversight.
