Job summary

The City of North Las Vegas is seeking a Mapping Specialist to develop and maintain utility maps and geospatial data. You will ensure the accuracy of water, sewer, storm, and dry utility systems and support GIS databases and modeling work.

Applicants should have an associate degree in engineering or GIS and at least 2 years of mapping experience, with a valid Nevada driver’s license or ability to obtain one. Foreign education requires US evaluation.

Supports the development and use of mapping databases and provides technical assistance using GIS, AutoDesk, and modeling software.**Job Description**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: •Associate's degree from an accredited college or university, or technical school in engineering, Geographical Information Systems, or a closely related field. •Two (2) years of related experience in mapping or GIS. •Equivalency: Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and/or training in mapping, GIS, and related utility infrastructure data management may be considered. The City assesses one (1)year of full-time experience as equivalent to one (1) year of education. •Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Nevada state driver's license and maintain satisfactory motor vehicle record. •Incumbents in positions that require possession of valid licensing/certification as a condition of employment must obtain and maintain such credentials within the established time periods, and throughout the course of employment. The current vacancy is in the Public works department. The eligibility list will be utilized to fill vacancies for this classification, for up to one hundred eighty (180) days.
