Job summary

Zekelman Industries in Kansas City, MO seeks a dedicated machine operator to set up and run high-speed equipment with robotic elements that form or cut steel to exact specifications. Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will calibrate tooling, inspect materials, log production data and support continuous improvement while upholding safety.

Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, ability to read/write English, basic math, and the physical capacity to lift up to 60 lbs and stand

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write English and perform production logging.
• Manufacturing or related industrial experience preferred.
• Ability to perform basic math (add/subtract/decimals/fractions).
• Experience with measuring devices such as tape measures, micrometers and calipers.
• Ability to operate forklift or crane as needed.
• Detail oriented with ability to work independently.
• Regular, full-time onsite attendance is essential.
• Lead and promote health and safety practices per policy.

Responsibilities

• Observe safety and LOTO rules while operating equipment.
• Advanced setup and calibration of equipment.
• Inspect materials for quality during production.
• Record and report deficiencies to supervisor/quality.
• Maintain equipment tooling and tooling supplies.
• Diagnose equipment and quality issues to minimize scrap.
• Complete production changeover and scrap reports.
• Support maintenance and preventive maintenance activities.
• Participate in continuous improvement programs.
