Job summary

Zekelman Industries is seeking a Plant Operator for the 1st shift to set up and operate high-speed equipment with robotic elements to form or cut steel to precise dimensions. The role reports to the Plant Manager and offers a $25.00 per hour wage with a full-time schedule.

Responsibilities include safety compliance, equipment setup, quality inspection, data recording, and collaboration with maintenance and quality teams.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write English; maintain production records and logs.
• Manufacturing or related industrial experience preferred.
• Math skills: addition, subtraction, decimals, and fractions.
• Experience with measuring devices such as tape measure, micrometers, and calipers.
• Ability to operate forklift, crane and other equipment as needed.
• Detail oriented; able to work independently.
• Regular, full-time, onsite attendance is essential.
• Lead and promote health and safety practices per policy.

Responsibilities

• Observe all safety and LOTO rules while operating equipment.
• Advanced setup and calibration of all equipment.
• Inspect materials for quality issues during and after production runs.
• Record and report deficiencies to supervisor/quality department.
• Maintain equipment tooling and tools for job completion.
• Diagnose equipment and quality problems while minimizing scrap.
• Perform housekeeping to keep area clean and safe.
• Complete production/changeover/scrap reports.
• Assist maintenance in repairs and PM of equipment.
• Participate in continuous improvement programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
