Job summary

Printpack Inc. seeks a Part-time Manufacturing Trainee to provide flexible production support across multiple areas, including Plate, Press, Lamination, and other production zones. You may be considered for full-time opportunities as needs arise.

The role operates 6-hour shifts from 4pm to 10pm, with a $2.50/hr premium for night hours. No prior manufacturing experience is required; a high school diploma is preferred and you must be eligible to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Support production operations across multiple departments.
  • Assist with machine setup, operation, changeovers, and packaging.
  • Learn and follow SOPs, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Monitor processes and report issues.
  • Complete required training and cross-training.
  • Record production information accurately.
  • Assist with equipment cleaning and basic maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Collaborate with operators, supervisors, and maintenance teams.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to support staffing needs and priorities.

Job description

The Part‑Time Manufacturing Trainee provides flexible production support across multiple manufacturing areas while developing the skills necessary for future operator opportunities. This role is designed to support operational staffing needs by assisting departments such as Plate, Press, Lamination and other production areas as assigned. Employees in this role may be considered for full‑time opportunities as business needs arise.

This role would consist of 6 hour shifts 4pm to 10pm (with some flexibility). An additional $2.50/hr premium for hours worked on NIGHT Shift only (qualifying hours vary by location).

Key Responsibilities
  • Support production operations across multiple departments and assets based on business needs.
  • Assist with machine setup, operation, changeovers, material handling, and packaging activities. . Fill ink/adhesive, clean carts, and taking tear sheets to the lab
  • Learn and follow standard operating procedures, quality requirements, and safety practices.
  • Monitor production processes and report quality, equipment, or safety concerns.
  • Complete required training and participate in cross‑training opportunities.
  • Record production information accurately and maintain necessary documentation.
  • Assist with equipment cleaning, inspections, and basic preventive maintenance activities.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Work collaboratively with operators, supervisors, maintenance, and support teams.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to support staffing needs, schedule changes, and production priorities.
Education & Experience
  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Authorized to work in the United States.
  • Ability to work a flexible part‑time schedule.
  • No prior manufacturing experience required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous manufacturing, warehouse, or production experience.
  • Technical or vocational training.
  • Forklift experience or certification.
  • Familiarity with printing, converting, or flexible packaging operations.

Physical Demands
  • Frequently lift up to 25 lbs.; occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. with proper technique.
  • Ability to work safely around moving machinery and production equipment.
  • Capacity to stand and walk for extended periods
  • Ability to climb, kneel, bend, reach, stoop and squat
  • Proficiency in grasping, pushing, pulling, and fine motor skills
  • Ability to climb ladders and stairs safely
  • Ability to wear required PPE (hearing protection, steel-toe shoes, safety glasses)
  • Ability to become certified in material handling equipment
Work Conditions
  • Manufacturing environment with industrial equipment, noise above 85db, and varying temperatures.
  • Typical schedule of 24-29 hours per week with flexibility based on operational needs.
  • May include day, evening, night, weekend, or holiday shifts.
  • Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Exposure to Solvents, fumes and inks
  • Must be able to work flexible shifts
