Job summary

Xylem in Morton Grove, IL is seeking a Manufacturing Test Engineer to design, optimize, and maintain test systems that ensure product quality, reliability, and performance across manufacturing lines. You will partner with Operations, Quality, Design Engineering, and Manufacturing teams to advance test capabilities, drive efficiency, and support the production of advanced water technology solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Applied Science, or a related technical field.
• Experience in manufacturing, test engineering, or related discipline with focus on test systems.
• Strong electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic troubleshooting aptitude.
• Experience with Six Sigma, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
• Knowledge of ISO 9001 and manufacturing quality systems.
• Strong analytical, technical, project management, and communication skills.
• Experience working cross-functionally in manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

• Lead Manufacturing Test Operations by designing and implementing test setups and measurement systems.
• Validate and optimize test systems for reliable, repeatable results.
• Support test operators with best practices, fixturing solutions, and troubleshooting procedures.
• Assist with modernization and continuous improvement of test equipment and facilities.
• Lead root cause investigations and corrective actions to address quality issues.
• Develop PFMEAs, process control plans, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Support ISO 9001, UL, ASME, and other quality audits.
• Partner with Quality Engineers to reduce defects and enhance product reliability.
• Monitor OEE and identify opportunities to improve throughput and productivity.
• Conduct time studies and analyze manufacturing data to drive efficiency and cost savings.
• Support Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen events, Lean initiatives, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams and contractors on calibration and preventive maintenance.
