Job summary

Douglas Dynamics, LLC is seeking a Manufacturing Technician to join our team and support a broad range of projects in a busy metal fabrication environment.

You will contribute to maintaining equipment, developing fixtures, and improving processes while collaborating with cross-functional teams. The role emphasizes hands-on problem-solving, attention to safety, and adherence to 5S standards as we push for continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Requires up to three years of related experience; or High School diploma/GED and three to five years of progressively responsible related experience.
• Knowledge of welding, metal fabrication, and machining; basic knowledge of electric and pneumatic circuits; GD&T a plus.
• Proficiency operating a forklift and a scissor lift.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and basic electrical/electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic schematics.
• Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with other employees to plan and implement manufacturing improvement processes.
• Physical Demands: May lift up to 50 pounds.
• Reasoning Ability: Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
• Mathematical Skills: Calculate areas, percentages, and proportions.

Responsibilities

• Design, fabricate, assemble, and qualify fixtures and tools for use in manufacturing processes.
• Design, fabricate, and install workstation equipment including benches, racks, tool rails, carts, and assembly aids.
• Proactively interact with shop floor associates, leads, supervisors, and management to research, communicate, prioritize, and follow-up on tasks and project work.
• Act as a technical resource to manufacturing and other departments to address and resolve production process inquiries and problems.
• Monitor proper and safe use of equipment in the MFGE Tech Lab; conduct training for users as required.
• Lead by example and uphold 5S standards in the MFGE Tech Lab; keep work area clean and orderly.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts in systems, procedures, and facility layouts.
