Position will start out working M-F for the initial 8-12 months supporting project work and then will transition to 12 hour shift (6am-6pm-2 days on, 2 days off, every other weekend)

Brief Job Description

The Mechanic Technician is a direct labor position reporting to a Manager/Supervisor on the Manufacturing floor, supporting Packaging operations. The role involves equipment setup, changeover, repairs, preventative maintenance, and acting as a Packaging Technician as needed. It requires mechanical and electronic troubleshooting skills, mechanical training for Packaging Technicians, and support for continuous improvement projects.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Operate, monitor, troubleshoot, and perform maintenance on packaging equipment such as pickers, sorters, labellers, packers, checkweighers, printers, inspection equipment, palletizers, stretch-wrappers, and conveyors.
2. Provide technical support to production technicians, resolve equipment issues, and assist with start-up, recipe setup, and critical sensor challenges.
3. Monitor equipment conditions, perform preventative maintenance, and investigate abnormal conditions to prevent downtime.
4. Perform technician tasks including start-up, operation, manual packaging, batch execution, material handling, rework, cleaning, and line clearance.
5. Operate light material handling equipment safely to move materials.
6. Monitor material quality and escalate concerns as needed.
7. Complete batch records, GMP documentation, and CMMS entries, and perform mathematical calculations as needed.
8. Follow safety procedures and report discrepancies.
9. Perform work in accordance with SOPs, cGMPs, and safety/quality procedures.

Other Responsibilities

1. Support lean activities and process improvements, lead Level 0 problem-solving.
2. Act as a certified OJT trainer, evaluate team members, and review process documents for accuracy and improvement opportunities.
3. Participate in equipment qualification and process validation protocols.
4. Support other work areas as needed and perform duties with minimal supervision.

Minimum Requirements

1. Experience in a regulated production environment with equipment maintenance responsibility.
2. Ability to understand, read, write, and communicate in English.
3. Ability to handle equipment change parts, tooling, and materials.

Preferred Background

1. High school diploma, vocational training, or equivalent.
2. At least three years of experience in a regulated environment focused on equipment maintenance.
3. Associates in Engineering or mechanical trade school preferred.
4. Experience with automated equipment and systems like SAP.
5. Knowledge of OEE, TPM, LEAN methodologies.
