Summary/Objective:

The Field Service Mechanic is responsible for repairing and maintaining rough terrain, crawler, mobile crane equipment, and various types of forklifts. The primary focus is on the service and repair of this equipment.

Must be willing to travel for extended periods.

Responsibilities:

  1. Repair and maintain rough terrain, crawler, and mobile crane equipment, as well as various types of forklifts.
  2. Have a strong background in electrical systems, drive trains, engines, hydraulics, and computer-controlled systems.
  3. Possess at least 3-5 years of experience in mechanical diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining mobile crane equipment.
  4. Be on-call during nights and weekends for crane repairs at customer sites.
  5. Be able to travel on short notice and stay overnight, sometimes for several days.
  6. Communicate effectively and professionally with customers, supervisors, and team members.
  7. Knowledge and experience in assembling and disassembling various crawler cranes are a plus but not required.
  8. Ability to read hydraulic and electrical schematics.
  9. Capable of lifting up to 40 lbs.

Educational Requirements/Qualifications:

  1. Minimum of 3 years of experience repairing and maintaining rough terrain, crawler, and mobile crane construction equipment; vocational training may substitute experience.
  2. Perform annual certifications and inspections.
  3. Ability to work independently without direct supervision.
  4. Computer literate and able to process information.
  5. Strong work ethic and commitment to quality.
  6. Knowledgeable in troubleshooting various equipment lines, including Manitowoc, Grove, Terex, Tadano, Broderson, Kobelco, and Liebherr cranes.
  7. Maintain safe work habits.
  8. Own and maintain a set of hand tools and keep the tool inventory updated.
  9. Possess a clean driving record and be able to operate a company service truck, keeping it clean and maintained.
  10. High school diploma required; higher education, including vocational training, is a plus.
