Our client is seeking a Manufacturing Systems Engineer / Business Systems Analyst to support the development, deployment, and ongoing support of manufacturing applications and systems that enable efficient factory operations.
This role sits within the IT organization and will focus on production support, system enhancements, application development, and new project delivery across Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), inventory tracking, process control, equipment integration, data collection, analytics, dashboards, and manufacturing performance metrics.
The ideal candidate will bring a combination of manufacturing systems, application support, database, and business analysis experience and be comfortable working closely with IT, engineering, quality, operations, and external technology partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day production support and enhancements for manufacturing applications and MES platforms.
- Serve as a technical resource for integrated manufacturing systems and applications.
- Troubleshoot system stability, production issues, application performance, and technical bottlenecks.
- Administer, configure, and support MES and manufacturing workflow platforms.
- Partner with manufacturing engineers to implement new processes and workflows within manufacturing systems.
- Support equipment integration, automated data collection, workflow management, and statistical process control systems.
- Perform data analysis, investigation, and root-cause analysis to support manufacturing improvements.
- Gather requirements and work with internal stakeholders to define and implement technology solutions.
- Evaluate solution alternatives based on cost, functionality, risk, and implementation timelines.
- Define project scope, resource requirements, testing plans, and implementation activities.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support client-server and web-based applications.
- Analyze existing systems and implement enhancements and new functionality.
- Maintain technical documentation, procedures, user guides, and system support materials.
- Support factory IT hardware and specialized manufacturing software.
- Coordinate installation and maintenance of factory PCs, tablets, printers, and other technology equipment.
- Serve as a point of contact for manufacturing-specific hardware and software issues and coordinate with broader IT teams for resolution.
- Work closely with factory leadership and operations teams to plan and coordinate technology activities.
- Identify gaps and inefficiencies within manufacturing IT systems and drive continuous improvement.
- Provide after-hours support as needed to support manufacturing operations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Industrial Engineering, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3+ years of experience supporting or administering MES or comparable manufacturing systems.
- 5+ years of experience supporting application and database systems in a manufacturing and/or IT environment.
- Experience across the full system lifecycle, including requirements gathering, solution design, testing, deployment, training, and production support.
- Experience with manufacturing execution, production tracking, process control, or similar manufacturing technology platforms.
- Basic programming experience with technologies such as C#, Python, ASP.NET, or XML.
- Database experience with SQL Server, SQL, stored procedures, and ETL/data integration tools.
- Strong Windows operating system and infrastructure knowledge.
- Basic networking knowledge.
- Experience with enterprise business applications or ERP systems is a plus.
- Familiarity with SPC, DOE, and root-cause/corrective-action methodologies is preferred.
