Job summary

TEMPO Employment Services is seeking a Safety Assistant to support workplace safety programs at a local manufacturing facility in Mars Hill. You will work with the Safety Manager to maintain a safe work environment, ensure safety requirements are followed, and assist with employee training.

The Safety Assistant will help maintain safety records, conduct workplace inspections, track training requirements, and assist with incident investigations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree or technical training preferred.
• 1–3 years of safety experience, preferably in manufacturing.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices preferred.
• Experience with safety training, inspections, or employee safety programs preferred.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to maintain accurate records and review safety reports.
• Comfortable working with employees at all levels.
• Bilingual in Somali or Spanish is a plus.
• Must obtain OSHA 10-hour certification within 180 days of employment.
• Must obtain First Aid/CPR/AED or First Responder certification within 180 days of employment.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities.
• No visa sponsorship is available for this position.
• This position requires completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safety records, reports, and required documentation.
• Enter and track safety information using computer-based systems.
• Assist with workplace safety inspections and audits.
• Identify potential safety risks and help develop solutions.
• Help organize and conduct employee safety training.
• Track employee training records and certifications.
• Assist with workplace incident investigations.
• Monitor safety practices and recommend improvements.
• Ensure contractors follow workplace safety requirements.
• Participate in safety meetings and improvement programs.
• Distribute personal protective equipment (PPE) and safety supplies.
• Support the Safety Manager with daily safety and administrative tasks.
• Occasionally travel to other facilities for safety inspections and training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
