Job summary

Corning Inc. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician (MET) for the Hemlock Wafer Plant, Finishing Dept. This hands-on role improves equipment reliability, reduces downtime, and drives operational performance in a safe manufacturing environment.

You will troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, perform root cause analysis, and implement solutions with cross-functional teams. Training and coaching of staff on maintenance and troubleshooting are part of the scope.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a 2-year technical degree; engineering preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in Engineering/Manufacturing environment performing maintenance, repair and upkeep of industrial machines and/or equipment.

Responsibilities

• Support day to day equipment and process issues, identify and implement solutions to enhance uptime of production and facilities equipment.
• Provide technical support for evolution from reactive to proactive maintenance, leading to productivity improvement and reduced maintenance costs.
• Assist in diagnostics, repairs and rebuilds of machines; partner with engineering or others on non-routine repairs and defect handling solutions.
• Lead execution of work during planned maintenance windows (preventative, corrective, predictive, improvement) including parts, personnel, and start-up communication.
• Utilize root cause analysis to ensure sustainability of corrective actions and/or improvements to drive asset uptime.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and use data-driven approaches to identify opportunities.
• Support plant production needs and priorities to achieve plant goals.
• Attend and participate in team meetings and programs.
