Job summary

Astro Shapes, LLC in Ohio seeks a Quality Manager to run day-to-day quality at the plant, leading the quality team across shifts, owning inspection and lab release, and driving corrective actions with Operations to fix issues at the source.

You will ensure products meet print and finish specs, manage KPIs, audits, and customer concerns, and partner with extrusion, die, finishing and fabrication to maintain first-article approvals and robust quality processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of quality experience in a manufacturing plant, with 2+ years supervising people.
• Working knowledge of ISO 9001, root-cause analysis, SPC and gauge/MSA practices.
• Ability to read prints and apply GD&T and dimensional tolerances.
• Strong communication with operators, supervisors and customers alike.

Responsibilities

• Lead, schedule, train and coach Quality Engineers, Technicians and Lab Technicians across all shifts.
• Ensure product is inspected and released to print, alloy/temper and finish specifications; own hold, disposition and MRB decisions for nonconforming material.
• Investigate customer complaints and returns; lead 8D/root-cause teams and deliver corrective actions on time.
• Maintain plant compliance with the Quality Management System and ISO 9001 requirements; lead internal audits and support customer and registrar audits.
• Track and report plant quality KPIs (scrap, internal rejects, customer PPM, complaint closure time) and lead improvement projects against them.
• Partner with Extrusion, Die Shop, Finishing (paint/anodize), Thermal Barrier and Fabrication supervisors on process control and first-article approvals.
• Oversee the plant lab and gauge calibration so mechanical, dimensional and coating test results are accurate and traceable.
• Act as the plant quality contact for customers and Sales on technical questions, specifications and visits.
• Build quality awareness on the floor through training, visual standards and boundary samples.
