Job summary

Slate is seeking a dynamic Manufacturing Quality Engineer to lead new product and process development and ensure a safe, successful plant launch. You will collaborate with internal and external partners to meet customer expectations.

The role requires extensive automotive quality experience (OEM/Tier 1), strong problem solving, FMEA/Control Plan knowledge, and the ability to drive continuous improvement in a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in automotive engineering/manufacturing quality at an OEM/Tier 1
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering (industrial/mechanical/manufacturing)
• Proven track record delivering new program launches on time with metrics
• Strong knowledge of QA/QC disciplines and problem-solving skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup environment with collaboration

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement QA and QC processes for sub-assembly and general assembly
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate quality requirements into manufacturing
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement CAPA to address issues
• Perform audits/inspections of manufacturing processes for new car launch
• Work with supplier quality to set expectations for incoming materials
• Maintain quality documentation including FMEA and control plans
• Support risk assessment and verification of detection/prevention for special characteristics
• Support the development of FMEAs and quality processes with development/product/manufacturing
• Assist in planning/evaluating product test drives and quality approvals
• Provide quality support to technical and manufacturing teams and daily operations
• Perform other duties as assigned
