Job summary

Slate is seeking a dynamic Manufacturing Quality Engineer to lead new product and process development and ensure a successful launch. The role collaborates across teams to embed quality into manufacturing and exceed customer expectations in our USA-based operations.

You will apply QA/QC methods, perform root cause analysis, work with suppliers, and maintain FMEAs and control plans. Candidates should have 8+ years in automotive quality at OEM/Tier1 and a strong background in APQP/PPAP tools.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master's degree in engineering (industrial, mechanical, manufacturing or related field) with 8+ years' experience

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement robust quality assurance and control processes relative to Sub-Assembly and General Assembly.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure quality requirements are developed and seamlessly integrated within the manufacturing process.
• Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to address technical and process quality issues to ensure the highest quality standards.
• Perform regular audits and inspections of manufacturing processes, ensuring adherence to quality standards and specifications for the new car launch.
• Work closely with suppliers through the supplier quality team to establish and monitor quality expectations for incoming materials and components.
• Develop and maintain quality documentation, including control plans, inspection procedures, and quality manuals accordingly.
• Risk minimization through use of appropriate risk assessment tools and verification of the robustness of detection and prevention systems for special characteristics.
• Support the development and maintenance of FMEA’s
• Support the definition of quality processes and technical standards in cooperation with development, product management and manufacturing to ensure product quality.
• Support the planning and evaluation of product test drives within quality and approvals of functions and systems.
• Provide quality support to the technical and manufacturing teams, as well as drive/support daily operations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
