Job summary

Valmont Industries is seeking a Quality Control Manager to lead the facility's quality control activities and supervise QC personnel. You will serve as the Management Representative for Quality, ensuring adherence to the Quality Management System and driving continuous improvement.

You will partner with manufacturing and business processes, conduct audits, monitor production, and lead root cause analysis to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 3 years of quality control experience or Associate’s degree with 6 years of quality control experience or 9 years of quality control experience
• Excellent leadership, problem solving, planning, customer service, and written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs
• Knowledgeable about welding inspection, coating inspection, and non-destructive testing
• Knowledgeable about basic quality tools, such as a pareto chart, a fishbone diagram, and root cause analysis
• Basic knowledge of statistical process control and process capability
• Knowledgeable about steel fabrication operations, such as thermal cutting, forming, welding, painting, galvanizing, and non-destructive testing
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Able to make informed, rational, data-driven decisions
• Able to persuade and motivate others
• Able to interpret codes and standards, shop drawings, and specifications

Responsibilities

• Lead the facility’s quality control activities and supervise QC personnel
• Ensure the Quality Policy is communicated, implemented, and maintained
• Serve as the facility’s Management Representative for Quality
• Select, onboard, train, supervise, evaluate, and develop QC staff
• Foster a culture of quality and advocate for customer expectations
• Conduct process audits to identify opportunities for improvement
• Monitor production processes and support process control
• Contain, investigate, and disposition nonconforming products and drive corrective actions
• Support resolution of customer complaints, including field work when needed
• Collect, analyze, and report quality data such as costs of poor quality
• Review and retain quality records and reports for accuracy
• Assist with interpretation of drawings, QMS requirements, and customer specs
• Support training and development of employees
• Develop, review, and implement QMS documents
• Perform inspection and testing duties (visual, welding, coating, NDT)
• Participate in cross-functional teams to improve performance
• Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders
