Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. is seeking a Quality Engineer to develop, manage, and support QA/QC initiatives across the organization.

The role improves processes, drives corrective actions, and leads cross-functional teams including design engineering, operations, and suppliers to sustain quality performance and metrics. The position requires up to 50% travel, strong data analysis, and the ability to interpret QMS documents and external standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with 3+ years of relevant experience or an associate’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience or 9+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in quality assurance or quality control
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification
  • Statistical methods in quality (sampling, data analysis, SPC, capability analysis)
  • Proficiency with Six Sigma tools (PFMEA, CP, RCA, MSA)
  • Ability to read engineering prints and specifications
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and lead cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Willingness to travel up to 50–75% and work in field environments

Responsibilities

  • Travel up to 50% depending on location
  • Identify and mitigate risks to meet codes and specifications
  • Serve as QA liaison between QA, supply chain, operations, and design engineering
  • Interpret quality requirements and external standards
  • Lead and participate in formal problem-solving events
  • Apply LEAN principles to minimize QC waste
  • Define quality processes for new product introductions
  • Lead quality teams through process improvement events
  • Develop and implement best practices for quality
  • Interface with customers to resolve nonconformances
  • Establish and monitor quality metrics
  • Communicate quality activity updates to management
  • Participate in customer specification reviews
  • Ensure compliance with laws in multiple jurisdictions
  • Develop relationships with stakeholders
  • Perform in-field manual labor with PPE
