Job summary

JR Automation, a Hitachi Group Company, is seeking a Manufacturing Planner in Holland, MI. This onsite role partners with Supply Chain to optimize BOMs, schedules, and shop utilization, ensuring on-time delivery.

You will develop manufacturing plans, determine material requirements, monitor capacity, and maintain production data. The successful candidate has an associate degree or equivalent, and experience with ERP/MRP and GD&T.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations, or related field.
• Experience in production planning and capacity management.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review BOMs, engineering drawings, and specs for completeness and manufacturability.
• Partner with Supply Chain to evaluate make-versus-buy decisions and sourcing strategies.
• Develop manufacturing plans, routing strategies, and scheduling priorities to maximize efficiency.
• Determine material requirements and stock sizes to support fabrication and machining operations.
• Monitor machine and fabrication capacity and provide short- and long-term planning recommendations.
• Schedule work based on machine capabilities, workforce skills, and production priorities.
• Coordinate resources to support planned production and urgent orders.
• Provide visibility into manufacturing constraints, delivery status, and performance metrics.
• Support decisions regarding in-house versus outsourced manufacturing activities.
• Maintain accurate work orders, production schedules, and manufacturing data.
• Ensure documentation and production information are organized and accessible.

How You'll Make an Impact:

• Review bills of materials (BOMs), engineering drawings, and specifications to ensure completeness and manufacturability.

What You'll Bring:

• Associate degree in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering Technology, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience (calculated as two years of relevant work experience for each year of academic study).
• Experience with production planning, capacity management, and manufacturing operations in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T specifications.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• APICS, APA, or related planning/scheduling certification is a plus.
• Current or prior JR Automation experience, or experience within the automation, custom machinery, or advanced manufacturing industry, is strongly preferred.
