Manufacturing Process Planner

Job summary

JR Automation, a Hitachi Group Company, seeks a Manufacturing Process Planner to optimize operations, balance shop capacity, and support execution of custom automation projects at our Holland, MI site.

You will review BOMs and drawings, coordinate with Supply Chain, develop manufacturing plans and schedules, and track performance metrics to improve on-time delivery. Strong planning, ERP/MRP proficiency, and GD&T reading are essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering Technology, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Three or more years of planning and scheduling experience in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment.
• Experience with production planning, capacity management, and manufacturing operations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T specifications.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• APICS, APA, or related planning/scheduling certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review bills of materials (BOMs), engineering drawings, and specifications to ensure completeness and manufacturability.
• Partner with Supply Chain to evaluate make-versus-buy decisions and support sourcing strategies.
• Develop manufacturing plans, routing strategies, and scheduling priorities to maximize efficiency and shop utilization.
• Determine material requirements and stock sizes to support fabrication and machining operations.
• Monitor machine and fabrication shop capacity and provide short- and long-term planning recommendations.
• Schedule work based on machine capabilities, workforce skills, and production priorities.
• Coordinate resources to support both planned production and urgent customer requirements.
• Provide visibility into manufacturing constraints, delivery status, and production performance.
• Support decisions regarding in-house versus outsourced manufacturing activities.
• Maintain accurate work orders, production schedules, and manufacturing data.
• Ensure documentation and production information are organized and accessible to shop personnel.
• Track and communicate on-time delivery performance and key manufacturing metrics.
• Maintain current machine and fabrication shop dashboards and performance reporting.

Location Type: This is an onsite position in Holland, MI.

What You'll Bring

• Associate degree in Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering Technology, Business, or a related field, OR equivalent experience calculated as two (2) years of relevant work experience for each year of academic study.
• Three (3) or more years of planning and scheduling experience in a low-volume, high-mix manufacturing environment.
• Experience with production planning, capacity management, and manufacturing operations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and ERP/MRP systems.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T specifications.
• Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• APICS, APA, or related planning/scheduling certification is a plus.
• Current or prior JR Automation experience, or experience within the automation, custom machinery, or advanced manufacturing industry, is strongly preferred.
