Job summary

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Develop clear, detailed technical instructions or procedures.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement methods (Lean, value-stream mapping, 5S, mistake-proofing).
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
• Translate operator knowledge into repeatable shop-floor processes.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed, step-by-step technical work instructions defining how tasks are performed.
• Translate engineering drawings, specifications, code requirements, contract requirements, and quality requirements into practical shop-floor methods.
• Ensure process instructions align with production orders and other auditable documentation.
• Observe shop-floor activities and document methods with operators, technicians, inspectors, and engineers.
• Standardize processes to improve safety, quality, repeatability, efficiency, and knowledge retention.
• Identify waste, bottlenecks, and error-prone steps; support continuous-improvement activities.
• Define process controls, tools, setup parameters, inspection points, acceptance criteria, and visual aids.
• Validate new or revised instructions through shop-floor trials and incorporate feedback.
• Support root-cause investigations and corrective actions through method improvements.
• Establish process-performance measures and sustain improvements through periodic reviews.
• Provide on-the-floor technical support and collaboration among operations, engineering, quality, and planning.
