Job summary

First Solar Inc. seeks a Manufacturing Engineer I to develop and improve robust solar module manufacturing processes on the production line. You will design and execute experiments, qualify new equipment, and analyze data to drive throughput and quality improvements.

The role requires a technical degree with 2+ years of manufacturing experience or a related engineering background. Travel and adherence to safety procedures are expected as part of a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Requires strong statistical data analysis skills.
• Demonstrated problem solving and DMAIC experience.
• Experience with metrology and measurement best practices.
• Ability to write complete manufacturing documentation.
• Knowledge of Design of Experiments (DOE).
• Experience with FMEAs and process control.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and continuous improvement.
• Ability to train operators, technicians and new engineers.
• Proficient communication, both oral and written.
• Familiarity with PLC automation and robotics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop, improve, and document robust solar module manufacturing processes.
• Execute experiments to establish process windows and capabilities.
• Install, qualify, and optimize new equipment on the production line.
• Solve day-to-day production, equipment, and process issues.
• Interface with internal and supplier teams to complete projects.
• Drive continuous improvement using Six Sigma and statistical methods.
