Job summary

First Solar is seeking an Manufacturing Engineering Technician to assist in the installation, qualification, and troubleshooting of systems on the production floor. The candidate will contribute to throughput, yield, and product performance goals.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, plus technical experience or an associate degree. Strong communication in English and the ability to work with minimal supervision are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; additional technical education preferred.
• Associates degree in a technical discipline is a plus.
• 2+ years of machine or mechanic experience as a primary function.
• One year of First Solar technical experience.
• Six months’ experience as a Temporary Manufacturing Engineering Technician at First Solar.

Responsibilities

• Solve day-to-day production, equipment, and process problems.
• Identify and implement yield and product performance improvements.
• Develop methods to assign causes to yield excursions.
• Set up and maintain gauges.
• Ensure all processes are running on target per the Process Control Plan.
• Respond to SPC process control alarms and restore control.
• Execute planned process experiments and report results.
• Collect data on daily tool and product performance.
• Provide training to production associates.
• Develop and update internal documentation (drawings, SOPs, process specs).
• Interface with internal and supplier personnel to complete projects.
• Develop a complete understanding of area processes, equipment, and support systems.
• Maintain effective communication with production staff and manufacturing engineers.
• Dispose non-conforming product per established criteria (NCP).
• Adhere to safety and housekeeping standards and proper waste handling.
• Other duties as assigned.
