Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering or related.
  • 0-3 years of experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Software skills: Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Project, SharePoint, ERP (IFS, SAP, etc.), Minitab, Quality Companion, VBA.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly practices. GD&T. Assembly tolerance stack.
  • Knowledge of Make-to-Order/Assemble-to-Order factory practices.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Quality Control methodologies
  • Knowledge of root cause problem solving methods (DMAIC, PDCA, six-sigma, pareto analysis, FTA, etc.)
  • Experience in can tooling, and/or other high tolerance large equipment manufacturing environment beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Design, integrate, or improve manufacturing systems or related processes.
  • Develop technical expertise regarding products and business processes.
  • Establish and perform maintenance on manufacturing bills of material.
  • Develop SOPs/WIs and routings for general parts and specific projects.
  • Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts.
  • Develop and maintain routings to govern workflow.
  • Develop precedence networks and assist with appropriate work scheduling and flow.
  • Develop standard labor hours and manning models.
  • Development and refinement of factory acceptance documentation.
  • Interface with operators to address issues, develop systems, SOPs and garner buy-in during process change management.
  • Interface with logistics to adjust material pulls, setting inventory levels and create flow.
  • Interface with procurement and quality to address part supply, quality and inventory level issues.
  • Interface with engineering to improve bills of material and manufacturability.
  • Interface with project management regarding development of WBS, status of projects, and manufacturing related issues.
  • Interface with and support CNC Programmers for program development.
  • Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts.
  • Determine root causes of failures and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
  • Understand detail drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks and/or other engineering software; attend engineering/customer/supplier meetings as appropriate.
  • Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes.
  • Document daily as needed for continuous process improvement.
  • Collaborate with personnel at all levels to address issues and improve processes.
  • Develop fixtures to improve assembly speed and quality.
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned.
