Qualifications

  • Knowledge of GD&T, assembly tolerance stack, and lean manufacturing.

Manufacturing Industrial Engineer I

Job Summary:

  • Design, integrate, or improve manufacturing systems or related processes.

Principle accountabilities include:

  • Develop technical expertise regarding products and business processes.
  • Establish and perform maintenance on manufacturing bills of material.
  • Develop SOPs/WIs and routings for general parts and specific projects
  • Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts.
  • Develop and maintain routings to govern workflow.
  • Develop precedence networks and assist with appropriate work scheduling and flow.
  • Develop standard labor hours and manning models.
  • Development and refinement of factory acceptance documentation.
  • Interface with operators (assemblers, receivers, material handlers, field service technicians, etc.) to address issues, develop systems, SOPs and garner buy-in during process change management.
  • Interface with logistics to adjust material pulls (systems and timing for individual projects), setting appropriate inventory levels and create flow.
  • Interface with procurement and quality to address part supply, quality and inventory level issues.
  • Interface with engineering to improve bills of material.
  • Interface with engineering to improve manufacturability and assembly.
  • Interface with project management regarding development of WBS, status of projects, manufacturing related issues etc.
  • Interface with and support CNC Programmers for program development.
  • Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts.
  • Determine root causes of failures recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods.
  • Understand detail drawings of components using AutoCAD, SolidWorks and/or other engineering software.Attend and participate in engineering/customer/supplier meetings as appropriate.
  • Troubleshoot new or existing product problems involving designs, materials, or processes.
  • Maintain project related documents, records and files initiate/create files, archive retrieval.Document daily as needed and required for continuous process improvement.
  • Collaborate with personnel at all levels of the organization to address issues and improve processes.
  • Develop fixtures to improve assembly practice speed and/or quality.
  • Additional responsibilities and duties may be assigned.

Education, knowledge, experience and Skills:

  • Bachelors’ Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Engineering or related.
  • 0-3 years of experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Software skills: Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Project, SharePoint, ERP (IFS, SAP, etc.), Minitab, Quality Companion, VBA.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly practices. GD&T. Assembly tolerance stack.
  • Knowledge of Make-to-Order/Assemble-to-Order factory practices.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of Quality Control methodologies
  • Knowledge of root cause problem solving methods (DMAIC, PDCA, six-sigma, pareto analysis, FTA, etc.)
  • Experience in can tooling, and/or other high tolerance large equipment manufacturing environment beneficial.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving and critical thinking skills.

Physical/Mental Demands and Working Conditions:

  • Use of monitor/personal computer.
  • Work schedule generally consists of 40-50 hours per week, which may include on-call status, evenings, and/or weekends.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver 50lbs.
