Primary Responsibility

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for designing and optimizing physical production cells and workflows, including production cell layout, product flow, early‑stage Design for Manufacturability (DFM), and the supporting processes and control documents required to maintain a safe, repeatable, and high‑quality manufacturing environment. In addition, the Manufacturing Engineer may support product value streams across all facilities through plant layout development, process flow optimization, and project engineering activities. This role is also called upon to troubleshoot complex or persistent product and process flow issues across the organization.

Duties & Responsibilities

Evaluate current product and manufacturing process flows to identify hidden factories and eliminate inefficiencies, driving improvements in safety, productivity, and throughput.

  • Develop new manufacturing processes or enhance existing ones to improve safety, efficiency, environmental performance, and compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Review early product designs and perform feasibility studies to validate manufacturability, identify risks, and ensure proposed designs can be effectively executed in production.
  • Assess machinery, fixtures, tooling, and equipment to ensure suitability for intended manufacturing operations and recommend upgrades or replacements as necessary.
  • Evaluate manufacturing cells and value streams, conducting beta testing of new equipment, technologies, or processes to confirm performance under real‑world conditions.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between product design and manufacturing for new product introduction (NPI), ensuring seamless handoff, clear communication, and timely project execution.
  • Conduct research on new materials, technologies, and methods that may enhance manufacturing capabilities, reduce cost, or improve product performance.
Candidate Requirements
  • Continuous improvement and zero‑defect mindset, with a strong commitment to driving quality, efficiency, and operational excellence.
  • Strong understanding of metallic manufacturing techniques and treatment processes, including milling, turning, grinding, and heat treatment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills—both verbal and written—with the ability to interface effectively with customers, suppliers, and cross‑functional teams across Safety, Production, Quality, and Design.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to recognize the broader operational landscape, successfully managing multiple projects in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of core engineering principles, with strong familiarity in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Lean Production methodologies.
  • Advanced analytical capabilities to evaluate processes, solve complex problems, and implement sustainable process improvements.
  • Strong ability to conduct Process Capability studies and translate findings into actionable improvement plans.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CAD/CAM tools, including SolidWorks and AutoCAD (preferred).
  • Skilled in engineering documentation and technical standards, including Standard Work, Work Instructions, GD&T, PLM/PDM systems, and configuration management.
  • Demonstrated leadership qualities, with a high level of motivation and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness and ability to travel as required (0–25%).
  • Supports additional activities and initiatives assigned by the Engineering Director.
  • Must be presently authorized to work in the U.S. without a requirement for work authorization sponsorship by this company for this position now or in the future.
  • Must reside in the United States.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline required. (ABET standard)
  • 1–3 years of related engineering experience preferred.
  • Work in conditions typical of a manufacturing environment—noise, dust, odors, etc.
  • Able to consistently wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety shoes, safety glasses, hearing protection, and other items as required by the task or work area.
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods of time.
