Job summary

Steel & O'Brien Manufacturing in Minnesota is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to drive process improvements and automation within our precision stainless fabrication operations. You will analyze, document, and optimize workflows, collaborate with production teams, and implement scalable manufacturing practices using Lean and Six Sigma.

A BS in engineering and 2+ years in manufacturing engineering are required; experience with Autodesk Inventor and BC ERP is a plus.

Qualifications

BS degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
Two or more years of experience in manufacturing engineering and/or continuous improvement within an industrial environment, ideally in precision manufacturing or stainless steel.
Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and other continuous improvement methodologies a plus.
Ability to learn and work within our Microsoft BC ERP system is required.
Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job such as safely navigating a manufacturing environment; lifting up to 25 lbs; standing, walking, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling and twisting.

Responsibilities

Analyze and refine existing manufacturing processes to identify standardized procedures that enhance production efficiency, quality, and consistency.
Collaborate with production teams to optimize manufacturing processes.
Develop comprehensive manufacturing process documentation, including work instructions and process flow charts.
Ensure operations comply with quality control standards and participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Implement manufacturing engineering services related to robotic welders, drills, auto welders, orbital welders, and fixturing, including fixture/tooling design and automation.
