Job summary

Banner Engineering Corp. is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for the Operations group at our Minnesota facilities. You will help improve manufacturing processes, reduce waste, and boost product quality while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

You will work in Plymouth, MN with travel to nearby sites, contributing to a dynamic, safety-conscious environment. Strong statistical, problem-solving, and communication skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering (or related field).
  • 0 to 5 years of engineering experience; new grads are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong applied statistical skills to analyze manufacturing data, identify process variation, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Knowledge of quality and continuous improvement methodologies including 8D and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • This position is based in our headquarters facility in Plymouth, MN, with frequent travel and collaboration with our facility in Brooklyn Park; occasional travel to SD and Mexico.
  • Proven problem-solving skills for diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead FMEA sessions and proactively reduce and eliminate the causes of defects.
  • Initiate quality alerts, stock checks, stop-work orders, line support, engineering, and corrective action requests.
  • Provide quality-based customer support for Production and Business units.
  • Work with operators and technicians to understand process challenges and implement improvements.
  • Critically analyze new product concepts and provide feedback for assembly requirements.
  • Manage improvement projects related to issues found in product returns.
  • Analyze inspection data for nonconforming products from external suppliers.
  • Collaborate with NPD and Plant Engineering to reduce waste and improve product quality.
  • Other relevant duties as assigned.
