Job summary

American Honda Motor Company, Inc. is seeking an Industrial/Manufacturing Engineer to design safe, efficient frame assembly processes. You will apply lean methods, analyze data, and standardize operations to optimize production lines.

The role involves CAD layout maintenance, coordination with multiple departments, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and improve safety and quality on the shop floor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing) or 6 years equivalent experience.
  • 0-6 years of experience based on education.
  • Excel VBA, Standard Time Evaluation, Workstation Design, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Customer Service.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing a balanced process across manufacturing areas using M.O.S.T. Lean techniques to improve efficiency and meet SQCDM targets.
  • Audit and maintain data to ensure accurate information across operations standards and support updating operation standards.
  • Support PDDA, MDRS, EOS systems and participate in meetings to discuss improvement themes across Quality, Safety, Delivery, Production, Purchasing, Packaging, or Logistics.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve efficiency; apply 5S, workstation design, and best practices.
  • Evaluate ergonomic countermeasures to prevent associate injury.
  • Assist in developing plans and schedules for projects and support New Model Events during change points.
  • Maintain AutoCAD layouts and read parts drawings and 3D CATIA data.
  • Create charts/presentations reporting on key department metrics and status.
  • Collect floor feedback and address concerns or provide project support.

Job Purpose

Design processes for safe and efficient automotive frame assembly. Use analytic tools and traditional industrial engineering methods to optimize Assembly Line production functions.

Key Accountabilities
  • Assist in developing a balanced process across manufacturing areas using M.O.S.T. Apply lean manufacturing techniques to support process efficiency and meet SQCDM targets. Design and implement processes that are simple and effective.
  • Audit and maintain data to ensure accurate information across all operations standards. Perform basic time estimates for production processes and equipment loads. Support the develop and refinement of operation standards.
  • Support Stamping / Plastics Department Lead for PDDA, MDRS, EOS systems. Participate in meetings with Honda functional groups to discuss improvement themes in Quality, Safety, Delivery, Production, Purchasing, Packaging, or Logistics.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste within the process and improve efficiency. Apply 5S work methods, workstation design, and set best practices for production.
  • Evaluate and implement ergonomic countermeasures to prevent associate injury.
  • Assist in developing plans and schedules for projects. Support New Model Events by incorporating change points into process design, and identifying concerns and countermeasure before mass production.
  • Maintain accurate AutoCAD department layout. Read Parts drawings, Spec Notices, 3D CATIA data.
  • Create charts and presentations to report status and plans for key department metrics.
  • Collect feedback from the production floor and address their concerns. Provide project support for all items impacting Assembly Department associate process.
Qualifications, Experience, And Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing) or Work Previous Experience of 6 years that is equivalent.
  • 0-6 years of experience based on education.
  • Excel VBA, Standard Time Evaluation, Workstation Design, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Customer Service.
Working Conditions
  • Generally first shift production hours, occasional split/second shift support required. 0-5 hours OT weekly.
  • 50% Fast-paced high-energy manufacturing environment, 50% office environment.
