Job summary

Honda South Carolina Manufacturing designs processes for safe and efficient automotive frame assembly. Using analytic tools and industrial engineering methods, the team optimizes assembly line production functions to meet quality, safety and delivery targets.

We seek candidates with a strong work ethic and diverse backgrounds, capable of applying Lean, 5S and Ergonomic improvements, and who can read CAD data and support continuous improvement initiatives on site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• 0-6 years of experience based on education.
• Excel VBA, Standard Time Evaluation, Workstation Design, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Customer Service.

Responsibilities

• Develop balanced processes across manufacturing areas using M.O.S.T and lean techniques.
• Audit and maintain data to ensure accurate information across operations standards.
• Support PDDA, MDRS, EOS systems; participate in improvement meetings.
• Identify opportunities to reduce waste; apply 5S and workstation design.
• Evaluate ergonomic countermeasures to prevent associate injury.
• Assist in project planning and New Model Events during design changes.
• Maintain AutoCAD layouts; read drawings and CATIA data.
• Create charts and presentations reporting department metrics.
• Collect floor feedback and provide project support.

Job Purpose

Design processes for safe and efficient automotive frame assembly. Use analytic tools and traditional industrial engineering methods to optimize Assembly Line production functions.

Key Accountabilities

• Assist in developing a balanced process across manufacturing areas using M.O.S.T. Apply lean manufacturing techniques to support process efficiency and meet SQCDM targets. Design and implement processes that are simple and effective.
• Audit and maintain data to ensure accurate information across all operations standards. Perform basic time estimates for production processes and equipment loads. Support the develop and refinement of operation standards.
• Support Stamping / Plastics Department Lead for PDDA, MDRS, EOS systems. Participate in meetings with Honda functional groups to discuss improvement themes in Quality, Safety, Delivery, Production, Purchasing, Packaging, or Logistics.
• Identify opportunities to reduce waste within the process and improve efficiency. Apply 5S work methods, workstation design, and set best practices for production.
• Evaluate and implement ergonomic countermeasures to prevent associate injury.
• Assist in developing plans and schedules for projects. Support New Model Events by incorporating change points into process design, and identifying concerns and countermeasure before mass production.
• Maintain accurate AutoCAD department layout. Read Parts drawings, Spec Notices, 3D CATIA data.
• Create charts and presentations to report status and plans for key department metrics.
• Collect feedback from the production floor and address their concerns. Provide project support for all items impacting Assembly Department associate process.

Qualifications, Experience, And Skills

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing) or Work Previous Experience of 6 years that is equivalent.
• 0-6 years of experience based on education.
• Excel VBA, Standard Time Evaluation, Workstation Design, 5S, Lean Manufacturing, Customer Service.

Working Conditions

• Generally first shift production hours, occasional split/second shift support required. 0-5 hours OT weekly.
• 50% Fast-paced high-energy manufacturing environment, 50% office environment.
