Job summary

nVent is seeking a Manufacturing Operator to set up, operate, and maintain progressive die press machines and related tooling to produce quality parts per blueprints. The role requires safe work practices and adherence to documentation, with responsibilities spanning setup, operation, inspection, and material handling.

You will work in a fast-paced environment, utilizing micrometers, calipers, and other gauges to verify tolerances, and you may operate lifts or cranes as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to make informed decisions.

Responsibilities

• Sets up and operates heavy-duty power equipment to bend, form, stretch and straighten products per blueprints and templates.
• Perform duties to assist setup and operate multiple automatic and/or multi-slide equipment for a variety of products.
• Understand and work from drawings, order sheets, schedules, and written/verbal instructions.
• Check material for correct size, type, identification, configuration and color.
• Assist with set-up of dies, movable and stationary equipment, forming blocks, adjust stroke and feed as needed.
• Competently use micrometers, calipers, scales, tape measures, calculators and fixed gauges to check work in process.
• Move materials using pallet jack, lift truck or crane (if PIT qualified).
• Install and check safety devices as needed for specific jobs.
• Report faulty equipment, defective material and unusual conditions.
• Observe safety rules and maintain neat, orderly work area.
• Perform other related duties possibly exceeding normal shift hours.
