Job summary

nLIGHT seeks a Manufacturing Operations Manager to lead day-to-day production on the clean room floor, driving safety, quality, delivery, cost, and productivity while building a high-performing team.

The role requires 5+ years in high-tech manufacturing with 3+ years in leadership, familiarity with ITAR/EAR and lean six sigma. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred, with strong cross-functional collaboration and problem-solving abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or related discipline preferred.
• Hands-on experience applying lean manufacturing tools such as material pull/kanban, visual management, one-piece flow, value-stream mapping, and 5S.
• Strong leadership, mentoring, and team-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Owns manufacturing performance metrics including safety, quality, delivery, productivity, yield, and cost.
• Leads supervisors, leads, technicians, and specialists to achieve goals.
• Drives continuous improvement using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and structured problem solving.
• Partners with R&D, supply chain and quality teams to improve process efficiency and manufacturability.
• Supports new product introductions and manufacturing transfers.
