Job summary

Stellantis seeks a Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer - UPE to join the Engineering team. You will help develop and launch manufacturing processes for NM, NNM, and adaptation programs across powertrain facilities, ensuring safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals are met.

Key duties include evaluating process changes, RFQ handling, sourcing, and installation of air/mist/coolant collectors, supporting site prep and machine installation, and driving standardization and root-cause problem solving

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with at least 3 years in engineering or a related technical field
• Strong ability to interact with all levels of the organization
• Excellent written, verbal, presentation and organizational skills
• Ability to translate technical data into executive summaries for easy understanding
• Knowledge of cost studies and strategic planning
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Intermediate/Advanced)

Responsibilities

• Participate with an Engineering team to develop and launch manufacturing processes that meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives
• Support NM, NNM, and adaptation programs across powertrain battery tray/frame, casting, components, engine, and transmission programs
• Assess process changes and investment requirements for cost studies
• Define RFQs, sourcing, design, manufacturing, and installation of air/mist/coolant collectors and filtration
• Prioritize and support NNM and NM programs to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery
• Assist facilities aspects for NM programs including site preparation and machine installation
• Support flow activities and tracking of Scope, Timing and Cost (Iron Triangle)
• Contribute to SIS methodology deployment and root-cause problem-solving approaches
• Develop/improve process and equipment standards related to facilities infrastructure
• Coordinate across plants in US, MX, CA with global CoC initiatives
• Drive standardization across regions

Job description

The primary role of the Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer - UPE is to participate within an Engineering team to develop and launch processes that meet all objectives for safety, quality, delivery, and cost for both new model (NM), non-new model (NNM), and adaptation programs.

This position supports all Manufacturing Engineering functions for North America powertrain battery tray/frame, casting, components, engine, and transmission programs.

Main responsibilities include:

• Perform assessments for process changes and related investment requirements for cost studies
• Understand engineering scope definition, Requests for Quotes (RFQ’s), sourcing, technical evaluations, design, manufacturing, and installation of air/mist/coolant collectors and filtration
• Support and prioritize the Non-New Model (NNM) powertrain programs requests and ensure that approved programs are completed on time and within budget
• Support all New Model (NM) program’s facilities aspects including site preparation and machine installation
• Support flow activities on programs ensuring successful implementation and tracking of the Iron Triangle (Scope, Timing, and Cost)
• Participate in the implementation of Stellantis Industrial System (SIS) methodology, supporting all activities including deployment of advanced SPW tools and guide systematic root cause problem solving methods to attack risks
• Development/improvement of process and equipment standards related to facilities infrastructure
• Manufacturing Plants located in Dundee, Michigan (MI), Trenton, Michigan (MI), Kokomo, Indiana (IN) and Saltillo, Mexico (MX); Transmission Plants in Kokomo and Tipton, Indiana (IN); Casting Plants in Kokomo, Indiana (IN) and Etobicoke, Ontario (ON), Toledo, Ohio (OH), while maintaining a relationship with the Global CoC initiatives
• Drive standardization across plants in all regions

Basic Qualifications:

• High school degree or GED with minimum THREE (3) years of experience in engineering or a related technical field
• Ability to work and interact with all levels of the organization
• Strong oral, written, presentation and organizational skills
• Ability to translate technical data and analysis into an executive summary format for presentation in easily understandable formats
• Ability to embrace cross-functional teams responsible for developing, specifying, building, and launching powertrain manufacturing processesKnowledge of advanced problem-solving skills and ability to manage data analysis to identify root causes and attack them to closure
• Knowledge of cost studies and strategic planning
• Microsoft Office intermediate or advance knowledge

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or technical equivalent
• Master’s degree in Engineering or equivalent
• Preferred minimum FIVE (5) years manufacturing experience, Powertrain Manufacturing experience a plus
• Preferred minimum FIVE (5) years’ experience in program management or multi-tasking environment
