Job summary

iMPact Business Group is seeking a Senior HR Generalist for a large multi-shift manufacturing operation in the Grand Rapids area. This role provides hands-on HR support for hourly and salaried employees and partners with plant leadership.

Responsibilities include employee relations, recruitment for manufacturing roles, leave administration, compliance, performance management, and day-to-day HR operations on site.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of HR Generalist experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• 2+ years of recruiting experience, preferably high-volume manufacturing hiring.
• Strong employee relations experience including investigations, corrective actions, and performance management.
• Working knowledge of FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers' compensation, and employment law.
• Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Strong judgment, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to independently manage sensitive and complex employee matters.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a primary HR resource for hourly and salaried employees in a multi-shift manufacturing environment.
• Manage employee relations matters, including investigations, policy violations, performance issues, corrective actions, and terminations.
• Advise supervisors on performance management, disciplinary actions, documentation, and employee conversations.
• Administer FMLA, ADA accommodations, short-term disability, and other employee leave processes.
• Coordinate workers' compensation cases, work restrictions, and return-to-work activities.
• Manage attendance administration, tracking, notifications, and escalation.
• Support high-volume recruiting for manufacturing and production positions.
• Maintain employee records, personnel changes, and HR transactions within the HRIS.
• Ensure HR documentation and employee files are audit-ready.
• Support I-9 documentation and federal and state employment compliance requirements.
• Partner with plant leadership on policy interpretation and employee communications.
