Job summary

General Motors in Detroit is seeking a Maintenance Group Leader to guide a team of skilled hourly workers in troubleshooting and repairing complex equipment. You will enforce safety, quality, and cost controls while aligning maintenance activities with SPQRCE priorities.

The role requires applying lean practices, coaching team members, and coordinating with union partners to improve throughput and reliability in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• One year of direct team supervisory experience or at least 5 months as an internal GM per diem group leader.
• Experience solving complex problems in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience managing, leading people, and addressing performance concerns.
• Demonstrate a high analytical ability to solve complex problems.
• Basic computer proficiency (i.e., Microsoft Word, typing, email).
• Must be willing to work weekends and rotating shifts.
• 18 years of age or older.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and adjust daily manufacturing plans; manage manpower allocation and respond promptly to issues to maintain production flow.
• Improve business results using Lean Manufacturing; identify and eliminate waste for Safety, Quality, Throughput, and Cost.
• Enforce quality processes with customer safety at the center; perform critical confirmations and ensure compliance with TA1 requirements.
• Coach and mentor team members and Team Leaders to foster skill development and adherence to standard work practices.
• Locate and analyze operational data to support accountability and continuous improvement initiatives.
