Job summary

General Motors seeks an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee the performance, safety, and efficiency of our Flint manufacturing site. You will lead a small team of Facilities Engineers, manage day-to-day maintenance, coordinate with contractors, and ensure projects stay on time and within budget.

You will drive improvements in building systems, safety compliance, and cost-saving strategies while coordinating across functions to support production goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or equivalent professional experience.
• 5+ years of leadership experience in manufacturing facilities or related operations.
• Knowledge of maintenance methods, operating requirements and safety precautions.
• Familiarity with safety and environmental regulations.
• Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Strong multitasking, organizational and time management skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work on-site on holidays, weekends or evenings if needed.
• Experience writing Appropriation Requests and tracking project spending.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day maintenance of the facility including building systems, equipment, utilities, and infrastructure.
• Manage facility projects (renovations, expansions, reconfigurations) within safety and budget constraints.
• Coordinate external contractors and act as site SME for specified systems.
• Monitor expenses, review contracts and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Plan and execute routine maintenance schedules for building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing, fire safety).
• Plan for future development aligned with business objectives.
• Investigate incidents and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate strategic visions for responsibilities.
