Job summary

Hunt Electric is seeking an Estimator to develop cost estimates for manufacturing projects. You’ll analyze specifications, read electrical drawings, and build BOMs, coordinating with Production, Engineering, VDC, and Purchasing to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.

Candidates should have a relevant engineering degree and proven estimating experience in manufacturing or electrical construction, with proficiency in Accubid/Trimble/Bluebeam. Strong communication and analytical skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in an engineering discipline or related major preferred.
• Proven estimating experience in manufacturing or electrical construction preferred.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills with attention to detail.
• Familiarity with estimating software and tools (e.g., Accubid, Trimble, Bluebeam).
• Excellent communication and people skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of electrical codes, regulations, and industry standards.

Responsibilities

• Review project specifications, drawings, and other documents to understand requirements.
• Identify scope of work and quantities of components for manufacturing.
• Use estimating software to calculate material, labor, equipment, and other costs.
• Conduct cost analysis based on data, market trends, and quotations.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates and proposals for clients.
• Create bills of materials (BOMs) and procurement lists for purchasing.
• Coordinate with Production Managers, Engineers, Project Managers, and Purchasing to align on requirements and timelines.
• Obtain pricing and lead time information from suppliers and subcontractors.
• Identify risks (material availability, lead times, cost fluctuations) and develop mitigations.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and potential cost-saving improvements.
