Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Technical Operations Specialist (TOS) to support production in maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing manufacturing equipment. The role requires experience with electrical and mechanical systems, robotics, PLCs, vision systems and lean maintenance practices.

The successful candidate will work in a high-output automotive environment, participate in continuous improvement projects, and report to a supervisor.

Qualifications

• Technical degree / Four Year Apprenticeship required or equivalent experience.
• Electrical Journeyman’s license or Mechanical Journeyman’s license.
• 8+ years as maintenance technician / electrician technician.
• Familiarity with high-volume automotive manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of advanced mechanical / electrical concepts.
• Knowledge of maintenance standards, codes and regulations.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Willingness to work off shift (2nd or 3rd).

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical and mechanical maintenance tasks on assigned equipment.
• Maintain conveyors, robots, automated equipment, PLCs, tooling and vision systems.
• Schedule and perform preventative and predictive maintenance.
• Respond to equipment issues and communicate updates.
• Organize maintenance projects and support process upgrades and new installations.
• Support weekend and off-shift needs as required.
