Job summary

General Motors LLC is seeking a Technical Operations Specialist to support production reliability at our Grand Rapids facility. The role requires hands-on electrical and mechanical work, a strong bias for safety, and the ability to operate independently within a lean manufacturing culture.

You will maintenance and troubleshoot a range of equipment including conveyors, robots, and automation systems. Relocation benefits may be available for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Technical degree or four-year apprenticeship or equivalent experience.
• Electrical/Mechanical maintenance in high-volume automotive manufacturing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of PLCs, robotics, controls, and power transmission systems.
• Ability to read blueprints and schematics; trouble-shoot complex equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical and mechanical maintenance on conveyors, robots, automation equipment.
• Conduct preventative and predictive maintenance per schedule.
• Lead and participate in lean initiatives and process improvements.
• Collaborate with supervisors and technicians to ensure uptime and safety.

Skills

Electrical Journeyman’s license

Mechanical Journeyman’s license

8+ years maintenance experience

PLC troubleshooting

Robotics familiarity

Blueprint reading

Strong communication

Education
