Job summary

Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems in Palmdale, CA, seeks a Manager Manufacturing Engineering 3 to lead a growing team on advanced manufacturing assembly lines. The role offers budget responsibility and direct oversight of 60–90 engineers plus 4–6 engineering managers, driving process improvements and alignment with program goals.

The position requires strategic leadership, hands-on process development, and a track record in aerospace manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 7 years of engineering experience in production assembly/fabrication (including composites, metallic, coatings) OR Master’s degree with 5 years of engineering experience.
• 3 years of prior management experience in related field.
• Active DoD Secret security clearance (US Citizenship required) and ability to obtain Program Special Access.

Responsibilities

• Designs manufacturing processes, procedures and layouts for assemblies and material handling.
• Optimizes plant layout by arranging machines for maximum efficiency.
• Defines operation sequences and fabrication procedures for tools and equipment.
• Adapts designs to factory conditions and inspects machinery performance.
• Develops processes applicable to statistical process control.
• Guides engineering on design concepts to utilize equipment effectively.
• Ensures processes comply with regulations.
