Job summary

AV invites students to join its 12-week Manufacturing Engineering Intern program in Pottstown, PA. The onsite role offers hands-on experience shaping manufacturing systems for AV Unmanned Air Vehicles, under guidance from seasoned engineers.

Interns develop problem‑solving, lean practices, and production support skills in a real‑world setting. Applicants should be enrolled in a related Bachelor’s program with a 3.0 GPA minimum, and may receive relocation/housing support.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Some coursework or experience in manufacturing, process improvement, or quality control.
• Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma familiarity is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of electro‑mechanical manufacturing, technical drawings, and BOM preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; Visio, Minitab, or CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) a plus.
• Willingness to travel occasionally up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Support and improve manufacturing processes focusing on efficiency and quality.
• Apply Lean and Six Sigma methods for continuous improvement.
• Analyze production data (yields, capacity, cost, process capability) for improvements.
• Document standard work hours, sequences, and assembly procedures.
• Create and update work instructions governing manufacturing processes.
• Participate in root-cause analysis for materials, design, equipment, and personnel.
• Assist in capacity planning and factory layout for efficiency.
• Assist cost estimation for tooling, fixtures, and equipment.
• Collaborate with design engineers on DFM and reliability analysis.
• Contribute to cross-functional improvement projects with engineering and suppliers.
• Support DFMEA and PFMEA activities.
• Provide input on manufacturing considerations for design concepts.
