Job summary

AeroVironment invites a Manufacturing Engineering Intern to join a 12-week, onsite program focused on supporting the design and operation of manufacturing systems for AV Unmanned Air Vehicles. You will work with experienced engineers on manufacturing processes, data analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives using Lean and Six Sigma principles.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Some coursework or experience related to manufacturing, process improvement, or quality control.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; CAD/Visio/Minitab experience is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Assist in supporting and improving manufacturing processes focusing on efficiency and quality.
• Help implement Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methods for continuous improvement.
• Analyze production data (yields, capacity, cost, process capability) to identify improvement opportunities.
• Support standard work hours, sequences, and assembly procedures documentation.
• Help generate and update work instructions and documentation controlling processes.
• Participate in root cause analysis and problem-solving related to materials, design, equipment, and personnel.
• Assist in capacity planning and factory layout design for improved efficiency.
• Support cost estimation for tooling, fixtures, and production equipment.
