Job summary

AeroVironment invites energetic students to join the Manufacturing Engineering Internship program. You will support design and operation of manufacturing systems for AV unmanned vehicles, guided by experienced engineers to analyze production processes and drive Lean/Six Sigma improvements.

The 12-week, onsite internship targets motivated students or recent grads with a 3.0+ GPA, offering hands-on experience in manufacturing process design, factory planning, and production support across multiple

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial/Mechanical engineering.
• Some coursework or experience in manufacturing, process improvement or quality control.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma is a plus.
• Experience with CAD software such as SolidWorks is a plus.
• Available to travel up to 10% to supplier sites.

Responsibilities

• Support and improve manufacturing processes with focus on efficiency and quality.
• Implement Lean Manufacturing principles and Six Sigma methods for continuous improvement.
• Analyze production data (yields, capacity, cost, process capability).
• Establish standard work hours, sequences, and assembly procedures.
• Update work instructions and documentation controlling processes.
• Participate in root-cause analysis and problem solving across materials, design, equipment and personnel.
• Assist in capacity planning and factory layout design for improved efficiency.
• Support cost estimation for tooling, fixtures, and production equipment.
• Collaborate with design engineering on DFM and reliability analysis.
• Participate in cross-functional improvement projects with engineering and suppliers.
• Support DFMEA and PFMEA activities.
• Provide input to engineering regarding manufacturing considerations for design concepts.
• Gain hands-on experience on production floor activities.
