Job summary

The Volvo Group internship program at the New River Valley Plant offers students hands-on experience in Industrial Engineering, applying academic knowledge to practical manufacturing projects.

You will work with Manufacturing Engineering professionals on lean initiatives, standardized work, and labor standards reviews, with training, housing assistance where applicable, and broad development opportunities across Volvo.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an Industrial Engineering degree at an accredited school.
• Has completed 30 semester hours prior to the start of the internship.
• Spring interns may work up to 30 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Assist with implementation of workplace organization and standardized work at each station.
• Implement lean manufacturing practices on the shop floor.
• Review current labor standards and identify ways to improve labor utilization and reduce waste.
• Participate in training and development to support team deliverables.
